Sr. Network Specialist

Job Summary:

 

Responsibilities consist of ensuring the successful operation of all internal data communication infrastructure systems consisting of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).  Design, plan and implement networked systems, including configurations and testing, supporting and troubleshooting network related problems, making recommendations for system upgrades based on improvements in vendor hardware and technology, applying standard security practices procedures and finally coordinating with vendors. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

 Responsibilities include working on project implementations, providing training and assist with proposal writing, which may include project planning, cost analysis, vendor comparisons and updating of supporting documentation.Researching and investigating new technologies in the infrastructure space; continually looking for ways to improve our data infrastructure; and assisting in the financial issues directly related to infrastructure systems.  Administering the new site-to-site VPN WAN (which includes routing, QoS, IP schema, IPS features, firewalling and BGP architectures); administering the LANs (which includes VLANs, STP, IP schema, QoS, VoIP and multicasting architectures); and maintaining the WAN IPS architecture (which includes applying patches and upgrading versions).



 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Management of geographically dispersed network architecture would be required which will include direct domestic support as well as indirect support for international locations. Experience on high and low end Cisco routers and switches is required. Experience with communication services and interconnect equipment (i.e. CSU's, DSU's,), multi-channel trunking, T-1 through T-3 services, and installation procedures is required.  Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills Project management experience



 

Minimum education and work experience required:

 5-10 years networking experience within a corporation with a multi-site, globally, distributed network environment4 year college degree in MIS, Computer Science, or another business related field or related experience. Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE a plus.
