Description:
Manage all aspects of physical Oracle databases (in-house; third party and reporting applications) in all operating environments to provide for the accessibility, security and integrity of company data. Services are provided to clients, peers, and help desk personnel on a global basis 7 x 24.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Support Business Systems Application development team with technical and physical design, development, and maintenance of Oracle Server databases, including data analysis and modeling, programming, implementation, performance monitoring, tuning, planning, problem resolution and data dictionary administration. Install, upgrade and patch Oracle Financial Application Software. Also responsible for installation, tuning, and monitoring of the following RDBMS systems: Oracle, Informix, SQL Server.
Consult with development teams in use of tools for reading and manipulating Oracle data and in troubleshooting Oracle related problems. Advise and support teams on use of standard practices for the design and implementation of databases to meet user application requirements.
Maintain test tools for managing Oracle objects and diagnosing problems. Evaluate and test new versions of Oracle, as well as 3rd party vendor utilities and reporting tools used to support Oracle.
Design, implement and test strategies for backup and recovery, security and disaster recovery of Oracle server databases and servers.
Qualifications:
No degree required. Oracle Certifications are beneficial.
5+ years Oracle database administration in medium to large corporate environments.
System knowledge may include experience with one or more Unix server from various vendors (Sun, HP, IBM, etc); hardware installation requirements for mid-range system; database performance monitoring and capacity planning; OS functions and capabilities; familiarity with UNIX scheduling, archive/backup management, file transfer protocols and editors.
Rapidly learn new technologies and recommend / implement those determined to be beneficial to the company.
Basic project management skills; time management skills; multi-task and prioritize work loads; demonstrated analytical capabilities; effectively identify and resolve problems in high visibility, high stress situations.
Strong interpersonal skills; work effectively in dynamic environment with a broad range of end-user configurations; participate in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
Strong communication skills (oral and written); communicate effectively with support peers, end users, and all levels of corporate management; manage vendor communication; ability to create and host presentations.
Provide 7x24 support in a multi-faceted global corporation.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Visio required
