General Job Summary

The next generation of the Kelley Blue Book business systems and products is currently being developed on the Microsoft .NET platform.  This QA position involves working in a team environment to develop and validate, within this new platform, the ETL (Extract Transform Load) workflow, design and processing of Kelley Blue Book data that feeds downstream systems and applications.  This position requires continuous involvement and participation with development teams to design, build and test software systems or products and the underlying components.  The Senior QA Analyst reviews, verifies and validates requirements, designs and functionality of software; creates automated test scripts and contributes to the automation library; Identifies and creates stress & load test suites.  Takes a lead role on projects, coordinating and tracking test activities.  May work on multiple projects at a time.

 

Job ResponsibilitiesWork with various development and business teams to understand the product requirements and to verify that the software or system under test meets those requirements.Participate in Scrum teams with other IT team members in an Agile development environment to ensure that a quality approach to software development is followed by the team through the use of unit testing, code reviews, change control, build management, deployment plans, design and data model documentation, etc.Provides functional, integration, regression, performance testing and test results analysis of the software or systems under test.Provides validation of data output of the new systems.Develop, execute and maintain high level test plans. Design, implementation and documentation of test cases and addition of these test cases to the automated test suites.Design, develop and maintain/enhance the QA automation software within the established framework.Provide and implement alternate automation solutions when needed.Track and report on test status including test coverage, test progress, defect management and overall project health.  Provide the appropriate test metrics to the project teams.Work with junior QA engineers to mentor them in the area of testing best practices and methodologies.Identify and execute the manual test coverage.Act as test coordinator and lead for selected projects.May require overtime or off-peak hours required to meet commitments.

 

Required Skills, Attributes & EducationBSCS or equivalent technical degree.  A minimum of 6 years of experience as a QA Engineer/Sr. QA Engineer.  A minimum of 2-3 years of experience testing systems software (database systems, file systems, client/server).Strong experience with QA processes and methodologies required; automated and manual test processes, black box, white box and gray box testing, test cases design, scripting, execution, automated test tools.  Stress, load and performance test tool(s) experience is desirable. Testing experience on Windows platforms required.  Experience in implementing an automated test environment required. Web testing experience a plus.Intermediate to advanced skills as a Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 developer, including: analysis of complex existing databases, advanced skills in SQL query design, thorough understanding of outer joins.Wide experience analyzing a variety of data sources (delimited files, fixed-width files, Excel worksheets, external databases, XML documents), designing a corresponding relational database structure in SQL Server, and creating repeatable data-import processes using BCP, DTS, or C# and ADO.NET, including normalization.Moderate C#.NET programming skill, including familiarity with ADO.NET.Demonstrated ability to produce complete, correct data-transfer and data-validation procedures by thorough self-checking of one?s own work, with minimal reliance on external testing to catch undetected errors and omissions
