Title: Senior Systems Integration Technologist II - Sr. Unix Systems Administrator
Job Description:
The Senior Systems Integration Technologist II for the IAS program will perform the following:
-Administer UNIX based systems (primarily Solaris) on a UNIX/Windows/Linux cross platform collaboration network with minimal support from other Computer System Technologists
-Perform planning and coordination of network installations and upgrades to satisfy JSIS requirements and/or prior JSIS document development experience
-Support drafting and execution of UNIX, Windows and Linux testing in support of collaborative environment.
-Provide support to staff of Computer Systems Technologists.
-Lead deployment or discrepancy resolution teams
-Ensure successful deployment and installation of products within required timelines and resource allocations
- Perform remote troubleshooting for discrepancy reports for currently installed systems at multiple locations
-Diagnose, isolate and demonstrate network configuration issues that may impede or prevent access to authorized applications
-Perform network architecture, hardware and software trade studies in support of program requirements
-Implement computer security concepts.
-Provide training during installations to both users and site System Administrators
-Mentor and train entry level System Administrators
-Acts as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customer or client audiences, internal and professional peers
-Provide technical leadership and supervision for System Administration team
-Support program IRADs, Proposal and ROM development efforts
-Brief technical concepts to non-technical audience. Ability to provide documentation on configuration and set up of systems
-Manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
-Support integration of systems using NIS, DNS, and NTFS configuration
-This position may require travel to other facilities, both in the U.S. and internationally. These trips may extend for as long as 5 weeks at a time, at least once a year.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an engineering subject, or equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of six years of experience performing Unix systems administration.
Requires two plus years of Solaris systems administration experience.
Two or more years experience writing technical procedures, reports, and/or proposals.
Two or more years experience in the configuration of domain information utilities including: NTFS, NFS, NIS, and DNS
Two or more years experience implementig high availability cluster servers and mirror RAID arrays.
Two or more years experience using Microsoft Office toolsuite (eg. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, MS-Project)
Experience performing group and/or project leadership.
Desired Experience:
-Possess general knowledge of other disciplines and how they relate to systems administration ? software, hardware, integration and test, configuration management, quality engineering is a plus
-Possess knowledge or experience with LDAP schema, Centrify, and commercial products used to provide secure single sign-on functionality across multiple Operating System
-Experience implementing schemes on government systems along with familiarity with DCID 6/3.
-Understanding syntax, format and interaction between Operating Systems (Solaris, SunOS, Linux, IRIX, VMS, XP, MS Server 2003, etc) beneficial.
-In depth experience with the following products: Sybase, Citrix for UNIX, Perl, SFU, Veritas Cluster Server/Netbackup.
-Knowledge and understanding of the working of IAS, VIAS or Spoondash programs
-Understanding of networking concepts such as routing, protocols and firewalls.
-Strong knowledge of various email implementations such as: send mail, imap, pop3
-Strong knowledge of email setup and interdependencies to include: dtmail, Mozilla mail, OWA and Outlook along with their benefits and challenges regarding remote access via various email clients in addition to various required plug-ins, such as Eclassify, PKI, Global and Local distribution list management, and PST file management.
-Familiarity with various storage array solutions to provide data storage and management, including quotas, to a mixed Microsoft and Solaris 9 environment.
- Understand the benefits and limitations of various UNIX graphics accelerators.
