Sr. Software Engineer-Database & Java
Scope of Services:
Seeking solid individual contributor who can work with a high degree of independence to design and implement applications for MTV Networks interactive platforms, specializing in relational-database design and implementation.
? Expert knowledge of relational database systems and SQL, including: relational modeling and design, table indexing and locking strategies, transaction management, and query and schema optimization. Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 12.5.x or Microsoft SQL Server experience preferred.
? Experience with at least some aspects of Data Warehousing and/or Business Intelligence including warehouse design, ETL tools, and report design. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for reporting and warehousing a plus.
? Experience developing web or client/server applications in a Java/relational environment. Requires working knowledge of server-side web development and Java programming skills. Experience with ATG Dynamo application server a plus.
? Experience with Python, PERL, or UNIX shell scripting.
? Experience working with high volume distributed system, where performance, scalability, and concurrency issues are a critical aspect of system design.
? Good knowledge of XML and the APIs for parsing and transforming it.
? Experience with Virage VideoLogger a plus, but not necessary.
? Ability to analyze assigned tasks, provide work estimates, and manage own time to keep development on schedule.
Estimated Duration of Project: 6 Months
Rate: $70 - $80 per hr
