Sr. Software Systems Engineer

3 month contract to hire position for experienced Software Systems Engineer!

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Develops applications of a complex nature or modifies complex existing applications.
- Handles the systems development life cycle on large size development and enhancement projects.
- Assists with project planning, project definition, requirements definition, analysis, design, testing, system documentation and user training.
- Acts as a liaison between business and technical staff at all levels.
- Handles coding, client/integration testing, debugging and documentation. Design documentation deliverables include, but are not limited to: Process Models, Process Decomposition Diagrams, Network Architecture Diagrams, Data Models, Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, etc.
- Develops external system design specifications.
- Assists in the definition of business case and project scope.
- Provides post-implementation and on-going production support as an on-call programmer.
- Instructs and assists Associate and Intermediate Systems Software Engineers in technical design and file maintenance routines.
- Evaluates new vendor software or existing system and makes recommendations.

 

Requirements:

-Expert programmer in Java and good knowledge of the J2EE platform.

-Familiarity with C#, .NET.

- Familiarity with Internet programming, and knowledge of Internet/HTTP protocols.

- Familiarity with Web Services, and Web Service security standards.

- Familiarity with Windows OS (all flavors).

- Strong software integration skills.

- Familiarity with Cyota and RSA Security.

- 5+ years of programming and systems development experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of systems development life cycle methodology.
- The ability to handle programming, unit testing, debugging, data analysis, system testing and analysis.
- Knowledge of project management methods and practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, mentoring and An understanding of data/process modeling and structured design.
- A strong understanding of impact analysis and effective program change control.
- Knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data modeling, process modeling, network architecture diagram and entity relationship diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of moving data across multiple platforms.
- Familiarity with moderately high transaction driven applications.
- The ability to perform query functions on multiple platforms.
- The ability to develop high availability systems.
- Demonstrated experience in working directly with line staff, analysts, team leaders and department managers in the client departments and other IT organizations in multiple sites and time zones.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:
- A Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Math or a physical science.
- Knowledge of mortgage banking, accounting and finance and/or experience with localization issues (local laws, customs, language and currency).
- The demonstrated ability to develop complex systems on multiple platforms.
- Some exposure to object oriented code and the web.
- JAD/Meeting facilitation skills.
