Description:

 Design, develop and manage large complex UNIX systems that are located on multiple servers in a diverse hardware environment across geographically separate date centers.  Provide senior level technical support for installing, configuring and maintaining UNIX based servers.  Perform software installations and upgrades to UNIX based operating systems and layered software packages.  Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum level of performance.  Provide performance data statistics to management and other team members.  Ensure UNIX based server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.  Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and/or archive operations.  Assist in conducting routine hardware and software audits of UNIX based servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.  Develop and maintain a comprehensive UNIX based hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.  Develop and maintain effective customer relationships.

 

Requirements:

 

?  Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field or equivalent relevant work experience

?  5-8 years experience in systems and network monitoring technologies and tools

?  Technical knowledge and experience with Unix, storage area networking, PeopleSoft 8x, Crystal Reports, HTML, XML, SANS, Unix-based security systems and HP-UX, MS Windows network environment, SQL, Websphere, WebLogic and HP-UX

?  Ability to translate business needs and problems into technical solutions

?  Competent project management skills

 

Preferred:

 

?  8+  years experience in systems and network monitoring technologies and tools

?  Insurance industry knowledge

?  Master?s degree
