Sr Systems Engineer Capacity Planning, Performance Monitoring & Tuning

Proactively monitor to insure future service capacity requirements.

Reduction of the frequency and duration of IT capacity failures.

Improved alignment between business needs and IT resources by deriving IT service and capacity requirements from specified business requirements with emphasis on new projects..

Builds and provides actionable reports in support of performance testing to be submitted to the project teams to review and provide follow up actions to ensure optimum support to meet SLAs

Problem and root cause analysis data provided by the IT support organization through capacity management tools and techniques.

Ensure that capacity and performance targets can be achieved at a reasonable cost.

Assist in the creation and review of internal and external service level agreements (SLAs).

Responsible for establishing processes for capturing and analyzing performance data from different areas of infrastructure, which include applications, hardware, and network.

Engineer/design the required alerts and monitoring requirements to be set up in the automated monitoring and management systems.

Use monitoring tools to differentiate the response times of the network and server in a centralized application-processing architecture.

Recommend tuning for infrastructure, applications and specifically the Wintel environment.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 servers, Windows 2000/XP Pro workstations

Minimum 5 year operations experience in a multi-platform environment

Technical experience with a variety of testing and performance monitoring tools

Experience with network administration and operations

Familiarity with ITIL practices to include Application Sizing, Workload Management, Demand Management, Modeling, Capacity Planning, Resource Management, and Performance Management

Knowledge pertinent to the design, engineering and deployment of networks, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN/VPN, wireless and fully converged network infrastructure

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Excellent communication skills, experience working with people at diverse levels and from different departments required
