Location: Chicago, IL
Type: 9 to 12 month contract opportunity

Responsibilities:
- Assume the role of a data and technical analyst and define data, and application architecture for this project
- Be responsible for technical design, development, coding, testing, debugging and documentation
- Lead a small-to-medium size team of technical developers and provide them with guidance, and mentorship
- Be responsible for creating data services, and integrating the data service components
- Design and code using .NET technologies as per application requirements and enterprise standards
- Identify and define the hardware, network, software and other middleware components for the application to run on BPI platform
- Collaborate with other developers in creating optimal, maintainable, and scalable architecture and design
- Follow enterprise standards and guidelines during all phases of development lifecycle
- Create high-quality technical documentation
- Actively promote quality in coding and other project activities.
- Be expected to be proactive in identifying and escalating to the Project Manager such issues that will have an adverse impact on the project
- Interact with IT management and other teams at a highly professional and technical level.
- Work closely with business analysts and business partners to understand and translate functional requirements and processes into technical specifications.
- Demonstrate accurate and complete understanding of project scope.
- Review business drivers, needs and strategies with Business Analysts and Enterprise Architecture Team to understand implications for technical and middleware architecture for the BPI platform
- Research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations

Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of application development experience
- Hands-on programming experience in full life-cycle projects using .NET technologies and databases like DB2/UDB, SQL Server and/or Oracle-9i
- Technical leadership of at least 2 medium to large enterprise level engagements in complex n-tier systems
- Expertise in coding DB2/Oracle SQL statements and stored procedures
- Experience in designing batch and real-time applications
- In-depth knowledge of .NET framework
- Hands-on experience in C#, ASP.NET, and ADO.NET (must have used in at least 2 enterprise-level, n-tier engagements)
- Expertise in relational database systems including DB2/UDB, and Oracle-9i
- Expertise in distributed systems architecture, and SOA
- Familiarity with identifying and resolving issues related to interoperability between legacy and .NET systems
- Experience with Fxcop and NUnit
- Expertise in OO concepts
- Experience with different methodologies including Agile, and RUP
- In-depth knowledge of UML
- Ability to understand functional requirements and translate into technical requirements
- Ability to create detailed architecture documentation for enterprise-level systems
- Aptitude to troubleshoot
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Independent and self-starter

Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Actuate
- Application development and/or functional experience in brokerage industry or any other allied area
- System-level knowledge of Thomsons BETA trading platform
- Experience in design and delivery of systems in Compliance and Regulatory landscape
- Familiarity with configuration management and deployment solutions and tools such as Harvest, PVCS and VSS
