Sr. Unix Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION Schedules installations and upgrades including hardware and OS. -Auditing new server builds in accordance with the UNIX standard-build. -Technical support for installing, configuring, and maintaining UNIX based servers. -Performs software installations and upgrades to UNIX based operating systems and layered software packages. -Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. -Provides performance data statistics to management and other team members. -Perform periodic restore testing of enterprise systems on test hardware. -Ensures UNIX based server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. -Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and/or archive operations. -Develops and promotes standard operating rocedures. -Assist in conducting routine hardware and software audits of UNIX based servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures. -Develops and maintain a comprehensive UNIX based hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. -Competent to technically Manage projects from inception to completion. -Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of system administration. -Working with other systems administrators, provide recommendations for capital requests and provide input for future budget activities. -Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AIX, HACMP and related components of multiple Cerner Millennium production and test environments. -Provide support for database administrators, application and interface analysts, and other system administrators. -Work as a member of a project team to upgrade components of the Cerner Millennium application stack, including Millennium itself

DESIRED SKILLS:
5+ years of AIX 5.1 and above 3+ years of HACMP Cluster set up and management
