FUNCTIONS:

 

The Sr. VMS / Unix Administrator will work as part of a team to manage a variety of VMS and Unix systems which form the core of much of Source Interlink Companies? transactional processing.  The primary focus of this position will be OpenVMS Administration; experience in Unix administration is desired but not required.  Training for Unix administration will be provided and Unix administration duties will be phased in over time.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Position requires at least 7 years experience and a 4 year degree.

 

The position requires extensive knowledge of the VMS operating system, related Alpha system architecture and common peripherals, backup planning and management, networking in a VMS environment, experience in scripting system management functions and a proven track record in managing 24x7 operations.  A thorough and methodical approach to ensuring reliable system operation is expected, and the ability to plan and manage both long term projects and short term support requests is necessary.  We expect the candidate to be able to coordinate VMS activities with developers (including planning for implementation) and integrate VMS into a heterogeneous environment.

 

Light travel may be required. Occasional after hours and weekend effort may be required to accommodate production activities.
