Staff Programmer/Analyst


GENERAL SUMMARY: Develops and modifies complex computer programs; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for analyzing requirements, designing, coding and testing software that is deployed on application and database servers. Maintains and enhances new features to an existing application using Hibernate 3.0, Java, and Oracle SQL. Creates and improves Oracle SQL reports. Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems. Prepares reports on analysis, findings, and project progress. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced programmers. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Proficient in maintaining and creating software using the following technologies: JAVA, SQL, JSP, Servlets, Hibernate 3.0, and Oracle SQL. Familiarity with Apache Tomcat and JDK 1.4. Extensive experience with an Oracle database and the ability to write and understand complex SQL statements. 5 years of general IT experience with at least one year of programming experience to include JAVA. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent can be substituted for 3 years of general experience. 2 years of specialized experience developing and maintaining Java web applications. Must be able to obtain a NAC Security Clearance.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of software development. In depth knowledge of the JAVA programming language and Hibernate 3.0. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in computer programming. Proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
