The Standards Architect will be participating as a member of technology standards bodies that are important to the technology implementations of our enterprise. As a participant the candidate will be expected to be able to:


 


* Drive Technology standards away from vendor solutions to open solutions. This means the candidate must be able to ascertain, in real time, what the technical implications of a proposed element of a specification is, and respond to it by supporting it or deflecting it as proprietary.


 


* In particular the candidate must be familiar with the standards that affect:


- Service Oriented Architecture


- Identity Management,


- Model Driven Development


- Grid and utility computing


 


This possession requires that the candidate be able to map Citigroup's business problems to low level technical solutions based on factors that transcend functions and features. The candidate must be able to envision what a technical implementation of the elements of a specification would probably look like. The candidate must have a sense of what an element's operational complexity, cost, performance characteristics, and flexibility would look like when it is implemented. This will allow the candidate to assess the viability of a recommendation and thus understand is they are to support it in a charismatic manner.


 


The candidate must be able to reach into the Citigroup Business and Technology community in order to understand needs and fold them into the standards. The candidate must be a communications vehicle between the Citigroup community and the standards bodies.


 


The candidate must be able to drive original content into the specifications based on Citigroup's needs. The candidate must be able to protect Citigroup's interests when something we do in a proprietary manner gives us a competitive advantage. The candidate must have a keen sense of what should and should not be shared in both public and private meetings with our vendors and competitors.



* Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

* Over 10 years experience

* Has sat on at least one technical committee of a standards organization and made significant contributions to standards work

* Standards experience

* People Managment Skills

* Interpersonal Skills

* System Architecture Skills

* Large scale production maintenance experience

* Experience with full life cycle development

* Experience with creation of business requirements

* Clear written skills

* Ability to identify and escalate risk and opportunities

* Knowledge of best practices
