Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Perform daily Storage Area Network (SAN) activities including management, zoning, provisioning, troubleshooting, documenting and debugging. Troubleshoot storage arrays, SAN fabric and server storage access. Provide status reporting (availability, performance capacity utilization) as required. Troubleshoots complex SAN problems for internal or external customers

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Desired skill-sets include, but not limited to:TCP/IP, UNIX, SAN, NAS (Network Attached Storage); Volume Manager; EMC Hardware: Symmetrix, Clarrion; HP StorageWorks EVA, EMA; Unix, Linux, OpenVMS, Novell and NT Operating Systems; Brocade enterprise class switches, 12000; Silkworm series; Brocade zoning, and command line administration; Storage Provisioning process; HBA configuration; SAN and Backup experience. EMC Certified or Brocade SAN Certified a plus.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of a four-year degree program in Computer Science or equivalent experience learning information technology concepts, plus knowledge of network technology as suggested by advanced vendor certifications. Minimum of two years related experience and knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, servers and workstations Ability to conceptualize the inter-relatedness of information technology components (software, hardware, servers, networks, etc.) Must have a strong background in Systems Administration, a good working knowledge of UNIX (HP-UX, Tru64, AIX), LINUX (RHEL, SUSE), Novell, and NT/2000/2003 Experience in administering SAN storage in an EMC or HP StorageWorks environment, as well as encompass design, implementation, and support functions. EMC SAN environment experience is a plus Must be able to use Storage Management Tools (or Command Line mode) to discover, monitor, provision and report on the storage infrastructure Experience with tape libraries and backup software is desired, specifically STK L series, Legato Networker Successful candidates should have experience with the open systems storage provisioning, reporting, and troubleshooting Strong Technical and problem solving skills Highly motivated and customer oriented On-call rotation Team player

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 Ability to sit and work with computer for a long period of time. Sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate standard equipment.
