Position Description;

The position is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to implementing supported Microsoft technologies in applications that are developed by internal Microsoft based groups and external partners. They are also responsible for supporting the applications in a production environment if the supported service the application was developed against fails due to an issue unrelated to operations.

This position is to provide support for internal Microsoft and external partners and developer communities using a callback model through preferred methods. They will act as a conduit between the various escalation paths and the partner and to supply general information to the developer community related to the supported technologies.

The ideal candidate is someone that has a passion for helping people understand and implement Web applications. They should have good communication skills and be very customer focused. We want as much technical background as possible, but this is not a Software Developer Engineer position. Those looking for purely coding positions will not be happy.

Candidates should have a strong support mentality with good listening skills. They should be able to understand an overall system and be able to follow a multi-step request/response flow. I especially like to see those that have a training background and who can take complex technology and enjoy helping people understand it.

Skills required;

- Client: Strong HTML. Some familiarity with scripting (enough to understand what it does by looking at it. Doesn't have to be able to write much in it)

- Server: Some ASP or ASP.NET. Should be able to do simple server side pages at a minimum. Prefer some more depth knowledge.

- General development: Some programming knowledge. Must be able to read VB, VB.NET or C#. Should be able to write simple page at a minimum.

- IIS management. Can setup a web site.

- General Web Dev: Understanding of how web applications work. Get vs. Post, links, redirects.

- Strong troubleshooting.

- Loves to learn

In addition, strong troubleshooting and ability to learn can make up for some deficiencies in their specific knowledge with the exception that they must be able to read and understand code, especially web based.
