System Engineer

Job Purpose:

Primarily responsible for In-depth understanding of current architecture and components Leverage that understanding and knowledge to analyze new customer requests and new applications/special projects.Perform high level design and analysis of alternative options to enable decision making.Hands on development of prototype proof-of-concept solutions to demo and to enable decision making.

 

The successful candidate will apply a system engineering approach: considering existing capabilities, product roadmap, various network topologies and technologies before presenting and recommending approaches and optimal solution(s).

 

Key Responsibilities:Responsible for analyzing various customer and operational requirements and generating proof of concept design and/or prototypes. Responsible for documenting the rationale, trade-offs, and details of the various approaches and recommending the next steps to take.Responsible for working with the rest of the engineering team to understand and define the interaction of various subsystems and new applications in a network environment. Responsible for analyzing and creating interface specifications for network applications.

 

Requirements:BS degree or work experience in a related field requiredAbility to work independently while in research and prototyping stagesExtensive experience with Linux and desirable to have JavaExperience with TCP/IP Experience with data communications Experience with various LAN/WAN technologies Experience with telephony (ISDN, VoIP) Understanding of Network Security Ability to effectively work and communicate within software development team, as well as with marketing/technical product management groupAbility to effectively communicate technical material with customers, suppliers, and partners
