System Manager, Automation

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under minimal direction, conceptualizes and develops total system/product solutions for enterprise-wide information technology services, for Automation, Scheduling and Tool Support. Translates customer, organizational objectives, and critical success factors into actionable business, organization and technology strategies.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Creates Operation Support plans based on an understanding of the customer's organization, ITS Services, technology context and business needs for AD.
2. Leads and works in a collaborative effort to conceptualize total systems and/or product solutions.
3. Leads others in the definition of plans and deliverables, including cost projections and proposed implementation dates.
4. Assists leadership in determining tactical and strategic direction of the division/organization.
5. Monitors market trends and the work of standard bodies to assist ITS and the customer in defining technical standards.
6. Mentors others on the application of new technologies, tools, processes, standards, and system development methodologies.
7. Researches, evaluates and stays current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies.
8. Plans and manages departmental goals, objective, procedures, and budgets.
9. Performs administrative management responsibilities including conducting performance evaluations, recommending salary adjustments, and taking necessary disciplinary actions.






Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer science or related field and/or 10 years of IT experience

Experience:
5 years of experience in a large complex environment

Specialized:
Experienced in Mainframe and Disturbted Operations support.

Must have knowledge of problem and change management tools such as Clear Case, Clear Quest, Remedy,Unicenter and/or Service Desk.

Demonstrated success supporting a critical application in a large enterprise environment

SQL experience (Sybase and/or Oracle)

Networking experience preferred with an understanding of routing, firewalls, and networking desired

Excellent customer support and communication skills
