OVERVIEW ? Systems Operator:

 

The Town Sports International (TSI) network of health and fitness clubs is the largest in the northeastern United States. In its 32-year history, the TSI network has grown to include more than 140 high quality health and fitness facilities in four major metropolitan areas-New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Philadelphia-with membership totaling more than 350,000. The TSI network includes clubs operating under four brand names: New York Sports Clubs, Washington Sports Clubs, Boston Sports Clubs, and Philadelphia Sports Clubs. There are also three locations in Switzerland: the Forum and the Joggeli Fitness Clubs in Basel, and the Luxor Club in Zurich.

 POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under general supervision, operates and monitors Town Sports International?s Data Center Operation, such as daily and nightly SQL Jobs, backup Jobs and reports generation. Basic Windows Active Directory administration skills are necessary. The position will also be involved in level one (1) troubleshooting of systems in the event of service interruption. Observes operation of equipment for error messages and execution escalation / notification up chains as required. The candidate must be available for defined working shift of the position.

 

NOTE: This position may be a first, second or third shift position.



 

JOB FUNCTIONS

 

1. Assist and support in the continued development and maintenance of Microsoft Windows based systems Monitor, report and maintain all systems at business defined availability levels, including database servers, web servers, file and print servers and Microsoft Exchange servers Document and manage the daily backup operations. Manage backup medias and offsite rotationsProcess and distribute daily reports relating to both technology and other business unitsParticipate as a valued member of the Technology Services division in creating operation efficiencies in the area of process, documentation, and general system administrationDevelop and document policy and procedures regarding data center operationMonitors all telecommunication lines for all sitesAdminister Windows Active Directory, add/delete/change of User login ids for server level assignments and applicationsManage all change management documentation as it relates to data center operationsCreates, documents, and maintains policy and procedures for streamline efficiency in the utilization of all maintenance and warranty services. This is a key role in communication for the network team to effectively troubleshoot and support the facilities and their network during network related issues that arise

 WORKING RELATIONSHIPS / CONTACTS

Regular and frequent interaction via telephone, computer, and interpersonal contact with Corporate Management Teams, Departmental Managers, Regional Managers, Staff Employees, and Corporate Support Personnel located within both the Corporate offices and subsidiary facilities.  Further communication requirements include third party support organization and partners.  Ensure and promote effective implementation and utilization of computer systems and provided services throughout the IT Infrastructure.

 INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATIONS

This position will directly report to the Manager, Technology Services.  All duties will be performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

Clean environment with pleasant office surroundings. Noise level may reach moderate levels.  Individual must be available to respond during unscheduled work hours and work evenings and/or weekend shifts as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work extended schedule within a five-day work week, with weekend and evening work required at times to meet special projects and business deadlines.  This may include Saturday / Sunday rotations and shift variations as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor?s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in information systems or equivalent experience.

2. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

3. Must possess good problem solving ability, good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with others.

4. Requires a high degree of self-management in area of tracking, documentation and service management.

5. Ability to multi-task - work on several projects at the same time.
