System z (Mainframe) Software Architect

Several years experience in designing complex multi-product systems (Integration, Enterprise and/or Solutions) is required. In this position, you will work with Enterprise accounts to lead the mainframe & software solution design process within Technical Sales. You will work closely with these accounts to develop the SW technical architecture for their Mainframe business initiatives. Your sales and/or customer expertise will be used to help convince the customer to use IBM SW to satisfy their Mainframe business objectives. The ideal candidates will have strong skills & experience as a Software Architect, will have a System z/Mainframe background, will have some Technical Sales (pre-sales) experience and will have technical knowledge & experience with at least one of the IBM SW brands - Websphere, Tivoli, Rational, Lotus or Data Management. Strong Competitive Software experience would be an acceptable alternative. Good communication & presentation skills and the ability to work in a matrixed environment & lead teams is also required. This Architect must be able to apply a methodology to understand business & technical requirements and then translate that into a workable architecture. J2EE and SOA (service oriented architecture) experience would be a Big Plus. This Software Architect must reside in the Greater St. Louis area. The successful candidate will be mobile and will work remotely with moderate travel (up to 35%) required. The salary will be commensurate with experience.
