Systems Administrator (HPUX)

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Systems Administrator.  This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the business critical IT systems in a local and global environment. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Support and maintain business critical IT systems in a local and global environment.Perform on a team which is responsible for installation, administration, maintenance, patching, and performance tuning of UNIX and Windows based operating systems.  Emphasis on HP-UX 11.xx OS.Deploy and maintain PA-RISC and INTEL based servers. Emphasis on HP 9000 systems.Deploy and maintain storage and data backup hardware ( SAN, NAS, iSCSI, DAS, BAN, D2D)Work in a team environment to provide hardware support to critical business enterprise applications/solutions (Oracle, PeopleSoft, Agile PLM, Active Directory, Exchange, Web Servers)Maintain enterprise backup procedures and processesResponsible for creating and maintaining documentation for IT systems.Contribute to Disaster Recovery strategy and implementation efforts.Assist in problem resolution of escalated IT Helpdesk tickets.Create and maintain scripts on all platforms for automation and tuning.Deploy and maintain monitoring, reporting, and alerting solutions for IT systems.Responsible for maintaining security on all systems for regulatory compliance.Contribute to the improvement and enhancement of IT systems to increase reliability and performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

 Experience working and managing IT Sytems in a multi-location, multi-platform, multi-cultural IT environment.Has worked in a environment with Oracle and/or PeopleSoft.5+ years of advanced administration (installation, patching, kernel tuning, and migrations) of UNIX/Linux.  HP-UX 11.xx preferred. Experience with programming and scripting on various platforms.Provide technical support on PA-RISC based systems with working knowledge of HP 9000 servers (N-Class, rp34xx, rp44xx).Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, CIFS, and SNMP.Understanding of network routing and switching in a LAN/WAN environment.Knowledge of enterprise storage and data backup technologies and software. (HP EVA SAN, NetApp Filers, HP StorageWorks and SpectraLogic Tape libraries, Veritas, Dataprotector, Arcserve).In-depth knowledge of clustering and high availability techniques in the data center environment (MC ServiceGuard, Load Balancing).Knowledge of Microsoft solutions including Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint Team Services, SMS, IIS, Windows Server 2k/2k3, Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2k Pro, Windows XP, Office 2k3, Visio, Project.Approximately 25% domestic and international travel.

 

 

Education

Bachelor?s degree or equivalent of 5 years of work experience. Certification in HP UX a plus.
