Systems Analyst - IT

Primary Objective of Position:
Systems analyst responsible for the implementation, maintenance, daily management and administration of enterprise wide and San Diego site specific, commercial application systems used to support Elan's commercial business needs.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- 70% CRM application configuration/development and support (full lifecycle) including, but not limited to:
- Providing 1st and 2nd level support to Elan associates utilizing commercial applications
- Documentation of business processes, requirements and specifications
- Application design and customization related to UI, business process, and reporting requirements
- Development and execution of testing protocols and scripts
- Providing ad-hoc and formal application training and support
- (Re)engineering processes in support of changing system and business requirements
- Aiding in the assessment, qualification and selection of new vendors and system solutions
- Assisting with project management duties, including time and resource management, business process analysis, risk mitigation

- 20% Supporting other commercial application projects and/or initiatives (e.g. business analytics, contract operations, data warehousing, etc.)

- 10% Creating and managing documentation and version control as required for applications, project and resource tracking, and quality system needs

Travel Requirements:
Limited travel (5% or less) as required due to remote user community

Minimum Experience Requirements:
3-5 years work/school experience.

Minimum Education Requirements:
B.S./B.A. preferred

Special Training:
- Application configuration
- Basic computer programming

Abilities/Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent problem solving and communications skills
- Must work well in a team environment
- Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office Professional

Preferred Experience Requirements:
- 3-5 or more years of experience in integrated systems implementation and maintenance, authoring procedural, technical, and project documentation such as user requirements and test scripts.
- Hands on experience working with CRM solutions and/or business processes, preferably Siebel.
- Experience supporting commercial off the shelf applications.
- Knowledge of relational and object oriented database concepts.
- Experience with data migration tools and concepts.
- Experience with client web technologies/languages (HTML, java script, etc.)
- Sales force support, preferably in the pharmaceuticals or life sciences industry.

Preferred Education Requirement:
BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or other scientific discipline preferred.

Special Training:
- Siebel 7 certification

Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Siebel
- Informatica or similar data migration tool
- Microsoft Excel (including macros)
- SQL, TOAD, MS Access, Oracle or similar database skills
- Visio
- Ability to reengineer and optimize business processes
- System validation, testing and documentation
- Experience in preparing and presenting software training information

Other Special Working Conditions:
Willingness to work outside of normal business hours to support system maintenance, special projects or on-call rotations. Must carry a cell phone during business work hours and on-call hours.

Candidate duties and responsibilities may extend across Elan's business areas and locations (both nationally, and internationally) with the appropriate business stakeholder approval. Candidates should have the ability to apply transferable skills (Tier 1, and with Training Tier 2 support) between the R&D, Commercial, and Finance sectors. This includes but is not limited to supporting applications such as Documentum, CoreDossier, Siebel, SAP, IMANY and Informatica MicroStrategy.
