SYSTEMS ARCHITECT

For the system architect, the ideal candidate should have experience designing and implementing dashboards. A Dashboard is an interface to data that is represented graphically, rich in metrics and allows for drilling down.

There are several products that are ideal for implementing dashboards. The challenge with Wal-Mart, a usual is to sort through the buy vs. build hurdles. The architect must be helpful with understanding what the market offers both from the product as well as technology points of view. If Wal-Mart can be convinced to choose a product, the architect must be helpful with the implementation, configuration and integration.

 

So in a nutshell, the architect must:

1. Have great communication skills, verbal, written and diagrammatic.

2. Understand Dashboards and Enterprise Information Systems

3. Complement the Data Architect at a higher lever

 

It's important to also keep in mind that the estimate for the TO considered a worse case scenario in which the architects and data architects must be heavily hands on in an environment that requires more in house development that integration with third party tools. The initial team should soon determine what will be the most acceptable approach or approaches that the client will entertain and then the team should be adjusted accordingly.

 

Experience implementing data oriented Microsoft based web applications (.NET)

 

Experience using charting solutions for web pages (bar charts, pie charts, tables, maps, etc)

 

Understanding of SQL and ETL, enough to safely rely on the Data Architect's design decisions and implementation

 

PROJECT INFORMATION:

Our consulting firm client will be building a Compliance Information Center Dashboard for our client located in Bentonville, Arkansas at Wal-Mart.

Our client wishes to implement a single point of reference (SPR) Compliance Center that will serve as a "one stop shop" location for all compliance information. A fundamental part of this location is a secure, Wire-accessible, comprehensive dashboard (the Compliance Information Center or "CIC"), a Wire-accessible place for all compliance information.

Associates will be able to access the CIC dashboard, view regulatory history and other reporting information, access all Compliance related applications, and view the information on the WIRE.
