Systems Development Engineer

Overview
This position is for a Systems Development Engineer in the Trading Systems team based in San Francisco. It provides development and operational support for Trading, Portfolio Management and manages the production environment.
The Trading Systems team is responsible for systems development and production support for Order Management System for multiple asset classes. The objective is to provide technology solutions that are reliable, adaptable, integrated, scalable and maintainable. The key clients of this group are Equity, Currency, Future and Fixed Income Traders and Portfolio Managers that are based in SF.

Responsibilities
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about solving problems through the use of modern technology. Primary responsibilities in this position are related to programming work to support new and existing products, and providing superior customer service to the end users under strict deadlines.
A successful candidate will be one who demonstrates attention to details, good work ethic, and an interest in doing things within an established set of standards.
A significant part of this job is working with other business within Barclays Global Investors and technology people globally. As a result, the person who fills this position will need to have outstanding inter-personal and communication skills and must enjoy working with other people in fast moving interactive environment.



Skills
This person must have:

B.S. (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related fields 2+ years of Java with 1+ years of J2EE/EJB's WebLogic or JBoss or similar 1+ years Sybase or equivalent RDBMS 1+ years XML 1+ years Minimum 2 years experience with development and supporting business-critical systems using object-oriented analysis/design techniques Experience working in global teams A passion for learning and creating top-notch solutions with the World-class technologies A passion for troubleshooting and solving investment business and technology problems Strong critical reasoning skills and the ability to think creatively in time critical situations Ability to provide excellent in-house support on technology systems Domain knowledge in investments and portfolio management is an advantage
