SUMMARIZED JOB DESCRIPTION

?  Responsible for collection and warehousing of enterprise monitor data, and facilitating the use of that data to support chargeback, billing, reporting, and performance/capacity management. 

?  All data warehousing is done using the SAS language, in most cases via the MXG or MICS tools.

?  The team develops and maintains in-house written SAS based systems to provide usage and accounting data for the Billing and Chargeback systems.

?  Also provides reporting, monitoring, analysis, tuning and planning services to help manage the performance and utilization of the mainframe and open system servers.

?  Performance and capacity management are collaborative efforts involving Application Development, Business Applications, Technical Services and Data Center Operations areas.

?  Many assignments are complex, and require extensive knowledge and skills, and independent planning.



REQUIREMENTS

?  College degree or equivalent technical school training desirable, preferably in Computer Science or other majors involving extensive use of computers. 

?  Background in statistical analysis a strong plus. 

?  Two or more years experience in information systems with experience in system programming, system administration, or application programming in an OS/390 and/or a distributed system environment

?  Knowledge of mainframe SAS, SAS Macros, and Unix shell scripting, is highly desirable. 

?  Experience in performance monitoring and analysis (preferably for Windows, Unix/Linux, and/or WebSphere Application Server) and knowledge of NTSMF and MXG data collection tools is preferred. 

?  Knowledge of MICS, Workload Manager, Strobe, Omegamon, ITCAM, SMF, and RMF monitoring and management tools, is also a plus. 

?  The candidate should possess strong technical skills ? understanding the monitor data, the necessary tools and languages, and how to manage performance and hardware resources usage. 

?  Good programming and analytical skills are needed for program development and maintenance, analysis of performance problems or identification of potential problems, and determination of optimal tuning options. 

?  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  On occasion will be required to lead a project or team effort.
