-Primary assignment is handling basic & advanced storage-related solutions.

-Associated work efforts require an advanced level of proficiency and knowledge in Storage and Backup/Recovery technologies.

-Duties will require the preferred candidate to plan and implement the storage-related infrastructure; design & maintain processes/policies; provide technical guidance & training for co-workers; work with multiple departments to determine storage and backup requirements & propose solutions; document storage allocations; support capacity management processes for storage systems; and make recommendations for changes where appropriate.

-All work is to be done in accordance with Storage Engineering best practices and CIT policies & procedures.Position Description

-Responsible for managing information systems functions where specific systems management families do not exist (e.g. E-Commerce, Database Engineering, Database Administration, Business Systems Analysis, Systems Administration, Quality Assurance etc.).

-May analyze the needs of the company or functional departments and establish priorities for feasibility studies, systems design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the company's information systems.

-May collect system requirements, techniques, and controls. Responsibilities include but are not limited to analysis, selection and modification of application software, installation of hardware and software, database management and integrity.

-Generally requires subject matter knowledge of a user group for practical application of system characteristics.



-Build and expand storage systems

-Build and expand SAN directors, switches

-Build and expand tape libraries

-Perform storage system decommissions

-Perform SAN director/switch decommissions

-Perform tape library decommissions

-Build and expand TSM server infrastructure

-Assign and zone switch ports

-Create RAID groups

-Create and assign LUNs

-Update EMC Control Center configurations

-Configure TSM on servers

-Provide storage sizings for projects

-Test backup & restore process for new servers

-Develop and publish storage engineering packages

-Execute production acceptance processes

-Gather technical requirements

-Update asset database with new storage hardware

-Update Remedy with new storage hardware

-Work with facilities to rack new storage hardware

-Install and configure storage agent startup scripts

-Perform third level problem managementMinimum Requirements

3+ years specific systems experience and demonstrated leadership skillsAdditional Knowledge & Skills

-Storage Area Networking (SAN)

-McData Intrepid; Cisco MDS; EMC SRDF Storage Devices

-IBM Shark, 3494/3584; EMC DMX, CLARiiON, Celera

-Tivoli Storage Manager

-TSM, TDP, RMAN, Enterprise Administrator Management Software

-EMC PowerPath, Control Center, Navisphere Operating Systems

-AIX, Solaris, and Windows strongly desired



Minimum five years experience within storage administration.

-Industry certification(s).

-Diversified knowledge of multiple storage technologies.

-Strong hands-on experience with hardware and software.Education
