Systems Security Engineer

Premier Princeton NJ based Research Institution seeks a permanent Systems Security Professional to join their IT staff.

 

Responsibilities:Primary responsibility for campus network security, will manage network security, including CheckPoint firewall and Juniper VPN. Monitor networks and systems for vulnerabilities, performing regular system and network audits, scans, and penetration tests. Responsible for intrusion detection and prevention devices.Routinely review systems and logs for signs of compromise. Respond to security incidents, capturing logs and system dumps for forensic analysis.Monitor security newsgroups and related sources, notifying computing staff of threats/vulnerabilities, and update internal security web site.Provide security-related technical support to end users.Participate in the design, installation, configuration, documentation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Develop and maintain scripts to support network operation.

 

Requirements:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as well as Security certification (CheckPoint, SANS or equivalent) required.Five to ten years experience in systems with two or more years concentrated experience in security.Knowledge of TCP/IP required; CCNA or similar preferred.Proficiency in at least one programming and one scripting language required; Linux, Microsoft and/or UNIX certifications highly desirable.
