Tactical Systems Division - Communications Systems.
Software Engineer for the Future Combat System (FCS) program Network Management System (NMS). The FCS NMS is the system responsible for the heterogeneous mobile ad hoc communications networks. The NMS system will provide the planning, fault, configuration, performance, network services, security, spectrum and policy management for the FCS Unit of Action communications network and support embedded training capabilities in simulated and fielded environments. The NMS system will be developed over a 6 year period.

Grade and salary dependent upon relevant experience.

Generates or develops code using the proper syntax of a computer language or database tool. Designs and develops software products/systems. Tests and documents software processes. Develops database solutions. May perform work in one or more of the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Software Development, Software Programming, Software Systems Analysis.

Experience in the following areas is required:

Seeking motivated, self-starter to investigate and integrate COTS products within a network management framework.
Analyze product design and identify design enhancements to incorporate FCS NMS-specific functionality.
Define and perform experiments to assure that the COTS product can work within our development and objective environment.
Knowledge of C++, and Java software development languages and scripting languages developed under a UNIX-like operating system is required.-
Experience in the following areas is an asset:

Object-oriented software methodology including use of UML is desired.
Also, relational data techniques including RDBMS and XML is desired. Knowledge preferred in developing and integrating network management and communications applications into tactical battlefield environment.
Experience desired with Army communications/operations.
