Tandem / SQL Server DBA

ExtraQuest Corporation, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, provides a managed database administration service for our customers throughout the US. We leverage our next-generation DBA autonomics technology platform, along with our professional database administration staff, to provide our clients 24x7 coverage for their mission critical database systems.


The Company is experiencing exponential growth and is looking for individuals specializing in Tandem SQL and MS SQL Server database administration experience. We are looking for professional administrators with very strong internals knowledge, and who experience running databases in production environments. Other critical skills include:

 

Mandatory Tandem SQL DBA Skills:

? 4+ year experience with Tandem / NonStop SQLSkilled in backups & recovery 24x7 production support experience Development DBA experience Managed database application such as SQL application run-time environment, embedded-SQL programs, creating, implementing, and testing an SQL/MP compilation strategy.

 

Mandatory SQL Server DBA Skills:7+ years overall IT experience, with 4+ years on SQL Server 2000 and 2005 Well versed in database performance tuning, especially SQL tuning Skilled in backups & recovery 24x7 production support experience Development DBA experience Intimate with T-SQL, BCP and DTS development

 

Experience in the following SQL Server areas is strongly preferred (but not mandatory):Worked in clustered SQL Server environments Experienced in setting up SQL Server Log Shipping and Replication Worked with 100GB+ SQL Server databases Windows batch file scripting Familiar with ETL tools like Informatica, Ab Initio, Sagent, etc. Familiar with MS Analysis Services Microsoft DBA Certifications (MCDBA) would be a plus!

 

Miscellaneous required knowledge:Database modeling & design (normalization, physical design, etc.)

 

Other qualities required:EXCELLENT communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work well with others Ability to work under high stress situations Able to think and operate independently, and in teams Willing to carry on-call cell-phone/pager Good email etiquette

 

This position is for full-time employment with benefits and may require up to 10% travel outside Denver.
