The position is located in Dallas, TX

 

The purpose of the department is to provide operational support of batch applications, infrastructure and operating systems. The scope of this job is to manage a team in a 24x7 production support environment within Allstate's data center.  The team is comprised of Windows support technicians and UNIX and mainframe operators. 

 

The individual will be responsible for

 

1. Managing a team of 10-20 employees across the UNIX, Mainframe and Windows environment.

2. Utilizing resources across the environment in an efficient manner to achieve business results.

3. Coordinating and managing the implementation of projects.

4. Managing, coaching and developing staff by executing performance management process. Resolving work related issues with employees through effective coaching techniques.

5. Relationship Building: Work with others to maintain a positive work environment in order to achieve objectives

 

The skills required are:

 

1. Advanced - Effective interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to draft reports, memos and business letters and give instructions/feedback to others.

2. Advanced - Organizational skills, effective time management and the ability to self manage. 

3. Intermediate - Application of clearly defined analytical procedures and concepts used to integrate and analyze data and make general assumptions and recommend action plans.

4. Intermediate - Knowledge of current technology consistent with industry standards. Ability to leverage technological skills in the achievement of team objectives.

 

Experience Required:

Needs experience developing employees, coaching & providing feedback, and building relationships - some familiarity with Allstate systems preferred. Proficiency with multi-tasking required.

 

Computer Proficiency:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook (e-mail and calendar), PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Access and programming knowledge preferred.

 

Education:

College Degree - Preferred

Major preference: CIS
