Technical Spec

Job Description: Based on thorough understanding of business objectives, processes, and available technology, the Technical Specialist will analyze requirements and apply appropriate solutions to solve complex business issues, and provide production support for critical systems. They will work directly with business unit users and leaders, and with IT Business Systems Analysts, to document business requirements, define technical requirements, research technical alternatives, and provide recommendations to IT management. They will install, configure, and support a variety of hardware, software, and telecommunications solutions, including direct end-user support. They may provide custom programming and scripting to accomplish the integration of diverse systems. The Technical Specialist plans projects and coordinates the efforts of business unit representatives, IT Cast Members, and supplier technical resources to accomplish system implementations, upgrades, and support. They participate with IT leadership in evaluating architectures and technologies for each application, and assist in preparing Capital Asset Requests.

Required Qualifications:
Experience implementing and supporting complex business computer information systems: 2 to 5 years.
Experience working with end-user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions.
Experience providing technical support to end-user groups using vendor application packages.
Ability to write functional and technical specifications.
Experience in developing and supporting programs in multiple languages and databases.
Working knowledge of Unix operating system including installation and configuration of software packages.
Highly analytical and organized; ability to manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously.
Knowledge of Accovia software, travel industry, reservation systems or call centers helpful.
