Technical Support Specialist
As the world's leading source for book, serial and publishing data and a peerless technological innovator, R.R. Bowker's resources are available in print, on tape, on CD-ROM, and on the web. Our ground-breaking databases and cornerstone guides serve libraries, publishers and booksellers all over the world. RR Bowker is currently seeking the right candidate for our Technical Support Specialist position. This position is responsible for provide technical support to all customers and users of the Bowker CD-ROM and Web-site product line as well as PUBNET EDI VAN and PUBEASY services.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
? Answer and assist customers calling in via phone, e-mail, or fax.
? Log service request tickets and activity via support database.
? Software fulfillment.
? Software testing.
? Provides support to end users on a variety of issues.
? Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
? Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
Must work 11:30am--8:00pm
Knowledge and Abilities
? Strong knowledge of Windows 98, NT 4.0, 2K, XP required.
? Strong knowledge of EDI (BISAC/X12) standards is required.
? Strong knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and utilities required.
? Self-motivated personality.
? Strong customer service skills required.
? Knowledge of DOS, Win3.x, MAC, Novell 4.11 preferred.
? Strong skills in troubleshooting printer problems.
? Must have strong troubleshooting skills on web-site access and web-applications.
? Skilled in hardware maintenance is preferred.
? Strong knowledge of FTP and HPN connectivity is required.
? Ability to be present in the office.
Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure:
? MCSE, MCP, A+ Certification, CAN, Net+ Certification, or degree in Computer Science preferred.
? Solid Technical Support background with at least 2 years of work experience preferred.
Language Skills:
? Excellent understanding of the English language, oral and written. Understanding of the Spanish language is a plus.
