Technical Writer

Merlin International ( www.merlin-intl.com ) is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join its Professional Services Division immediately. This person will be responsible for producing clear, comprehensive, concise, and user-friendly system software documentation, online help and white papers. Other typical projects may include internal process documentation, and training material. Work closely with technical subject matter experts and gather the information necessary to develop the required documentation and training material. Effectively manage projects, through planning, development, review, and publication.

 

Required Skills:

 

BA/BS in technical communications, English, or similar field combined with three or more years of experience as a technical writer. Proven abilities in technical writing, editing, and developing documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences about software systems.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

?Solid writing and editing skills ?Good document design skills (organization, layout and format, color, etc.) ?Ability to learn new technologies quickly ?Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with subject matter experts ?Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and drive others toward meeting deadlines ?Advanced Microsoft Word skills ?Knowledge of Oracle, SQL, Portal technologies a plus ?Skills with Web-based training and online help authoring tools a plus ?Good organizational and verbal communication skills ?Ability to thrive in a newly-formed department with many projects to roll out quickly ?Writing and maintaining web-based documentation FrontPage, HTML, Adobe Acrobat

 

Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance (Active Secret Clearance preferred)
