Technical Writer

 

Job Description:  Position is initially for 6 months.  The Technical Writer will compose documents based on input from developers and users of the systems, as well as correlating existing documentation from project archives and vendor literature.  Documents may include but are not limited to:  test procedures and reports, reference and maintenance manuals, user instructions, project archiving, training materials, and technical reports.  Must possess the ability to understand complex business rules and their technical solutions and describe them in an accurate, concise, and easy-to-read manner. 

 

Key Tasks:

? Candidate must have strong skills in the following areas: understand the needs of the target audience for each document, study data and conduct interviews with internal subject matter experts to understand the product or procedure, index and cross-reference related documents, produce or format for illustrations, charts, or revise material prepared by other personnel. The candidate must be well organized and have the ability to work productively in a rapidly changing environment and without significant amounts of direct supervision.

? Candidate is responsible for the engagement of senior management during each phase and iteration throughout the entire program lifecycle and ensures industry standard best practices are implemented and followed.

 

Skills and Experience Requirements:

? Minimum of three (3) years experience in technical writing in the software development and integration industry or equivalent combination of education & experience.

? Strong interpersonal/interface skills across functional groups.

? Excellent written and oral communication skills.

? Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Visio, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.

? Bachelor?s degree in Information Systems or related area is preferred.

? Proven leadership experience in project initiation and planning.

? Extensive knowledge of Microsoft based productivity applications.

? Experience in front-line customer service and supporting a revenue-generating operation.
