Technician Specialist-Engineering - (SM0011)

1. H/W Configuration Management
a. Maintain records on all PCs and their components.
b. Process new H/W (logging) when received from SMO Receiving
c. Process old H/W (logging) when deleted from SMO inventory
d. Includes tracking of GFP
e. Maintain diagrams of hardware and network installations
2. H/W purchasing:
a. Work closely with the Systems Integration group in the research and
selection of new hardware
b. Purchase H/W, which includes H/W components and removable media
This process includes:
i. Creating purchase requests. This includes vendor research and pricing
ii. Assuring with H/W CM supervisor that any H/W purchase requests by other
SMO personnel are proper and have Project Engineering agreement.
3. H/W Maintenance
a. Assemble and upgrade all H/W at SMO. /this process includes running diagnostics
to assure correct operation.
b. Repair all H/W at SMO. This process includes pre and post-repair diagnosis, with
possible participation by others.
4. LDS Support
a. Maintain LDS Test Bed and LaunchCast drawings and pre-operation procedures.
b. Support Operations when requested. This includes pre-operation checks.
c. Transport, setup, and test computer equipment at support facilities and test beds
(workstations, routers, racks)
5. DOL Support
a. Maintain DOL drawings and pre-operation procedures
b. Support Operations when requested. This includes pre-operation checks
c. Schedule, test and supervise emergency power equipment support during
operations.
d. Supervise backup H/W personnel
6. Facility Support
a. Build up and route cables for network connections
b. Telephone System Maintenance, install and move phone lines. Keep records of
system connections
c. Manage the Vault AC and Pneumatics system
d. Test and maintain EPS equipment.
7. Shipping - package systems and components for shipment
SKILLS
1. Has or can acquire a security clearance
2. Education
a. High school minimum with continuing education evident.
b. Electronic Technician associates degree or equivalent experience
c. Microsoft certifications or equivalent experience
3. Has technical background in:
a. Computers - experience troubleshooting computer hardware:
Workstations, Servers, etc.
b. Other H/W - Network (router, switch), modem, Raid, Cabling for
networks and phones, etc.
c. S/W - word processing, spreadsheets, databases and other MS and PC
software
4. Good communication skills
a. Verbal skills
b. Reading/writing skills
5. Physical requirements
a. Lift 40 lbs.
6. Knowledge of SEI/CMM/ISO practices a plus.
