Technology Engineer

 

Small but rapidly growing company looking for a self motivated individual willing to do it all in this fast paced environment. Ideal candidate should possess skills in web related technologies with emphasis on databases and dynamic content but have the ability to assist in a support/helpdesk environment when necessary.

 

1. Basic Functions:

 

Experienced, Non-Managerial position assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of company technologies. Under supervision, helps with database design/development in both SQL and Oracle environments.  Candidate performs skilled repair and maintenance of technology- related equipment as well as technical support for technology-related systems. Employee provides technical support to users including, but not limited to, technical advice on equipment setup and operation, general troubleshooting, and software installation. Employee typically works in a centralized microcomputer environment; however, positions may be located in other environments. Some travel may be required.

 

2.  Specific Responsibilities

 

? Assists in the creation and maintenance of Web enabled technologies.

 

? SQL database administration and programming.

 

? Under the supervision of the IT Director, assists with the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals.

 

? Assists in the maintenance of computers, software, and local area networks by monitoring performance.

 

? Makes recommendations to building-level staff regarding upgrades and replacement of technology-related equipment.

 

? Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating systems

 

Personal & Organizational Development:

 

? Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of support requests and other responsibilities.

 

? Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, and hardware/software technologies to continuously improve knowledge and stay current.

 

? Interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills; cooperates positively and provides information and guidance, as needed to contribute to the business efforts of the agency.

 

? Maintains and updates technical repositories, and understands its use to perform technical task and expedite customer service request.

 

?  Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by agency management.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

? Strong knowledge of computers and related technology devices.

 

? Understanding of standard SQL commands and syntaxes

 

? XML as a mechanism for storing and transporting data, including parsing/processing techniques and programming theory and principles.

 

? Strong knowledge of web technologies with emphasis on .NET, VB Script, Java Script

 

? Proficiency in Macromedia/Adobe software applications including Dreamweaver.

 

? Understanding of Macromedia Flash a plus but not required.

 

? Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.

 

? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

 

Working Conditions:

 

High-pressured, fast paced environment with significant telephone and personal disruption.  Large number of multiple steps in complex system performed with accuracy and speed is essential to the successful completion of tasks.

 

Suggested Training and Experience

 

Graduation from a two-year college or technical school with a degree in a related field and eighteen months experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in computer and peripheral troubleshooting.
