Telecommunications Technician - VOIP/AVAYA

A client of ours located in the Washington, DC area is currently looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join their team full-time permanently. Our client is a large organization offering an excellent benefits package and very competitive salary. 

Job Details:Installs, maintains, and repairs voice, data, and video communications systems. Troubleshoots and resolves problems, or refers to outside service personnel.  Provides training and technical assistance to users.Responds to trouble calls received through the Information Technology Services (ITS) Helpdesk from staff.Reviews, prioritizes, and processes data and phone problems on an hourly basis.Completes Telecommunication Service Requests (TSR) submitted by the Telecommunication User Coordinator (TUC) in the TSR database.Schedules and supervises Texel Cable contractors on the installation of new voice and data cables for facilities. Obtains quotes from vendors.  Reviews installations to ensure standards are met.Installs and replaces circuit pack cards as needed on the Avaya G3R and G3Si systems at facilities.Monitors the status of trunks for alarms or loss of service on the Avaya G3R and G3Si systems at facilities.  Processes data requests concerning connections or disconnections of personal computers from the network. Troubleshoots cable and phone problems.Maintains the Master Extension List Database in Microsoft Access.

Required:VOIP experience is mandatory for this position.Avaya experience is mandatory for this position.Ability to solve intellectual problems of some variety and complexity and exercise some latitude for independent judgment and action.Ability to solve problems using selection or application of commonly used rules, procedures, or precedents.  Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Ability to work successfully in a team environment.  Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other departments through effective communication.Good oral communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.High school diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge.
