Teradata Database Architect [P50034]

Summary This role will perform the logical and physical database review in preparation of improvements for system performance, tuning, and reduction in data replication. In addition, will provide technical leadership and guidance of DBMS design for projects to ensure efficient performance under the Cognos reporting tools for user execution and proficiency.

Additional responsibilities will include driving a regional warehouse design that can grow and be expanded to support business requirements. This person needs to be driving the underlying Teradata / Informix database designs for the regional / global project needs in a true business intelligence data warehouse fashion following defined standards for a logical and physical data warehouse environment.

Tasks and Accountabilities


Designs, constructs, and maintains databases to ensure integrity, performance, accessibility, and recoverability of data.

Establishes database definitions and tables; designs, codes, tests, and implements custom database scripts and formal procedures.

Develops long-term strategy for historical data retention and archival plan for storage needs; defines data retention, backup, and recovery.

Identifies and resolves information flow, content issues and transformation of business requirements into logical data models.

Designs and constructs data warehousing structures and processes.

Serves as prime consultant on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities and long-range goals and objectives.

Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.

Skills & Qualifications


Recognized subject matter expert with a minimum 4 years Teradata experience.

BS/BA in related discipline and 10-15 years of experience or MS/MA and generally at least 8-12 years of experience in related field or equivalent.

Experience in Increasingly diverse or complex applications in field of expertise

Mastery of existing and emerging technologies, processes, and practices.
