Provide operations support for Web and Application servers


Provide application level triage for various web-based Java applications


Provide oversight and potentially create remediation processes for NOC staff.


Offer guidance and perform training for NOC staff and accept escalated problems.


Participate in the review of catastrophic failures and provide feedback to prevent future occurrences. Evaluate proposed changes to the environment and participate in pre-production testing.


Evaluate current and proposed web application architecture to assess potential failure points and areas for improvement.


Work with engineering staff to provide operations influence on design elements.


Perform other duties as assigned.


Carry a pager and/or cell phone 24x7 and participate in an on-call rotation.


Some after hours work (nights and evenings) is required


Some travel required

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:


B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent


Certifications in Java, Unix/Linux, and Web and Application servers are desired

EXPERIENCE:


Minimum of 1 yr of direct experience supporting a high transaction, Web based application environment required.


Extensive experience with Solaris or other Unix variants is required.


Experience supporting Unix based Application and Web server products that will ideally include Apache, Sun One, & BEA Weblogic is required


Strong experience with Java based applications required.


Working knowledge of J2EE applications is required.


Working knowledge of LDAP or x.500 based directories in a web application environment is required


1 yr experience in an ISP environment strongly desired


Experience working with dynamicsoft SIP proxy/registrar, Antepo presence, iPlanet, Resin, Jacobs Rimell is preferred


Support of provisioning and meta oriented applications is preferred.
