Join a friendly team responsible for providing campus-wide data backup and archive services for Cornell University.? It is a varied job with several thousand users of the service on a wide range of host platforms.? You will work on a team to support these users and resolve any client problems that may arise, supporting servers (IBM systems running AIX/Unix and TSM) and a large automated tape library.? You will also provide support for business-aspects of the service, including chargeback accounting, service marketing, etc.? Duties range from task level details of server administration - defining storage pools, managing storage policies, etc, up to managing small projects, such as new hardware or software implementations, implementing monitoring, reporting and administration tools, etc.? This position is responsible for approximately 1/3 of the on-call responsibilities of EZ-Backup.

Bachelors with 5-7 years experience or equivalent combination. 5-7 years of IT work experience, with at least 3 years experience supporting TSM or similar environments.? It would be an advantage if you had some background in Unix/Linux system administration, Windows administration, MacOS, Perl, Rexx, other scripting languages, SQL, as well as a willingness to work in a demanding, cross-platform environment.? Course work with information systems, storage technologies and software management tools preferred.? Advanced knowledge of operating systems, storage systems, storage networking, storage management, and mid- to high- end storage and server hardware, gained either through formal or informal training.? Knowledge of high availability technology, backup technology and disaster recovery principles. Experience required with Tivoli Storage Manager server and clients, or extensive experience in similar products.? System administration experience in AIX, Windows 2000/XP/2003, Solaris, Linux, is highly desirable.? Experience with the Macintosh operating system helpful.? Experience with one or more scripting languages strongly recommended (e.g., Perl, Rexx, shell, etc).? Knowledge of SQL and Rexx is desirable.? Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.
