Tools Analyst/Visual Basic (VBA) Specialist (11700)
Description
''There is no other group of people with whom I'd rather work.''
-CEB Staff Member
We hear this refrain often at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), and why shouldn?t we? In 2005 we experienced the following highlights:
Forbes: Ranked in the magazines annual ?200 Best Small Companies? edition
Fortune: Selected as one of the ?100 Fastest Growing Companies? in the U.S.A.
Business Week: Named as one of the magazine?s ?Hot Growth Companies?
Washingtonian: Featured as a ?Great Place to Work? in Washington, DC
We feel the primary driver behind these accolades (and the underlying business achievements) is the quality of the staff we hire and develop over time. We are proud of our staff and are looking to add talented, dynamic people to our (growing) ranks.

Required Skills
What We?re Looking for in a Candidate
We seek candidates who are principally motivated by ideas. Unlike management consulting, investment banking, and law, our strategic research positions do not depend on a special appetite or aptitude for sales or business development. Successful candidates tend to be as (if not more) interested in mastering a broad intellectual terrain or struggling through a complex problem than in building a large enterprise or managing large numbers of people.
Our search for talent is centered without exception on two attributes. The first is Force of Intellect ? the ability to run deep on a logical, philosophical, or economic problem and resurface with rigorous original insight. The second attribute is Spirit of Generosity ? the same quality of service within the firm that we aspire to provide to our members.
Some of the shared characteristics of our successful hires include:
A background in database statistics, data management, statistical research, system study, and programming/documentation
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel: includes proficiency in building macros and using VBA programming
Experience with statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc.): familiarity with SPSS automation preferred
Proficiency in basic statistical concepts (regression analysis, factor analysis, significance testing, etc.)
Competency in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA): 2+ years experience with VBA required
Familiarity with web application design (C#, MS.Net, PageMaker, HTML)
Knowledge of technical documentation standards (Unified Modeling Language)
High proficiency in distilling massive amounts of data into important relevance for senior managers
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to generate reports using PowerPoint and other software packages
Strong project management and time management skills combined with a very high attention to detail
Ability to work either independently or in a team environment, depending on the task at hand
Exceptional performance in undergraduate academics or graduate studies (approx. 40% of our analyst hires have a MA or MS)
2-6 years post-undergraduate experience, or related experience
