RCM Technologies is a leading provider of comprehensive Information Technology and Engineering solutions for customers in the Aerospace, Distribution, Engineering, Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, Insurance, Technology, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Telecom, and Utilities markets and is seeking a Traffic Engineer for a one (1) year contract position in Concord, California.

Job Description: Reporting to Senior Network Engineer, Traffic Engineer will be responsible for overseeing design, implementation, and verification of voice traffic on the client's network across the West Region. Position works with local LEC/CLEC/IXC, regional network groups and corporate network groups. Responsible for implementing plans for optimization of voice routing. Must be able to work with Transport Engineers, Planners, and Operations Personnel.
Minimum Required Skills / Competencies: Applied telecom experience a must. Requires excellent organizational and communications skills to manage multiple engineering tasks and projects. Position will interact daily with Transport Engineers, Planners, and Operations Personnel.Ideal candidate must be able to manage dates and prioritize deadlines.Competent in Microsoft Excel and Access.
The main functions will be:Design routing scheme for least cost routing in new switch areas.Design and implement optimization plans for increased routing efficiency in existing switches. Review of monthly routing changes.Work with local carriers to implement more efficient routes for incoming traffic.Work with other network teams on new carrier implementation strategy Ensure team maintains constant communication for the client & with various Telcos.
Preferred candidate will have:Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, etc.), and Visio.Experience in Remedy and Granite/Xpercom or similar Circuit provisioning and inventory data bases.Experience with the LERG. Experience with Metrica/PlanIT.
Shift / scheduled hours: Monday - Friday 8-5
