UNIX Production Operator-Experienced

The position is located in Dallas, TX

 

The purpose of the department is the purpose of the Data Center Operations department is to provide operational support of batch applications, infrastructure and operating systems. The scope of this job includes both incident and problem management in a UNIX environment. This work can be done in either the Hudson or Dallas Data Center.

 

The scope of this job is the daily processing of batch schedules in a UNIX environment utilizing Unicenter TNG and Veritas Netbackup as well as working with applications owners, clients, technical support groups and leadership to resolve processing issues. This is a 3rd shift position.

 

The individual will be responsible for

 

1. Responsible for maintaining the daily batch processing schedules in a Unicenter TNG systems environment.

2. Proactively monitor systems and resources in order to eliminate outages or service variations.

3. User support and client interaction. Must process job requests and interact with clients.

4. The ability to work off shifts in a 24/7 environment

5. Other duties as required.

 

The skills required are:

 

1. Intermediate - Intermediate UNIX experience, with a working knowledge of commands, editors and shell scripting

2. Intermediate - Communications skills both written and oral

3. Intermediate - Problem solving skills, ability to multi task in a highly demanding environment and must have the ability to interact in a

team environment

 

Experience Required:

Minimum 1 year experience in Unix Operations

 

Computer Proficiency:

UNIX, Unicenter TNG, Veritas Netbackup, Windows, Microsoft office products including Visio

 

Education:

College Degree - Preferred

Major preference: Computer Science or Business Administration
