Description: provide primary support for the Unix Linux/Solaris environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

? Implementation, maintenance, and support of server environment (Hardware and O/S)

? Performance tuning and capacity management for Sun/Linux systems

? Provide support for related infrastructure issues / projects

? Support and The UNIX Engineering team has an opening for a Systems Specialist to implement system processes, procedures and security in accordance with corporate IT standards

? Escalation of system issues and outages to senior team members, vendors, and management

? 7 x 24 on-call support as part of a rotational schedule

?  Handling of ad-hoc requests as require

 

Required Skills:

? 1-3 Years of Sun Solaris system administration / support experience

? System administration skills and knowledge of Sun Solaris versions 8, 9, and 10

? Working knowledge of Sun Microsystems server product line

? Working knowledge of Symantec Veritas product line including Storage Foundation

? Suite, Cluster Server, and Enterprise NetBackUp

? Experience with standardized systems builds via JumpStart technology

? Experience with SAN and NAS solutions from EMC, NetApp, Qlogic, and Emulex

? Experience in an IBM AIX environment a plus

? Experience with Red Hat Linux a plus

? Experience with Sun Fire Enterprise line (3800, 4800, 6800, E25K) a plus

? Experience with shell scripting, C or Perl programming

? Excellent communications, analysis and problem-solving skills

? Ability to document work is considered both a basic and an essential qualification

? Self-starter who can work in a team environment, as well as independently.

?  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks successfully is a must.

? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable work experience
