Unix Programmer / UDB Developer

  Position Description:   CDI is looking for an Intermediate Database Developer to plan, design, develop, and implement moderately complex company database(s).  Needs to be able to Identify data definition, structure, long-range requirements, documentation of database(s), operational guidelines and protection. Will write code for database access, modification, and perform construction including stored procedures. Responsible for the maintenance of database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.  Will need to assist in establishing database standards and guidelines. Install, configure, and manage databases. Participate in the on call rotation, monitoring service and problem requests, and work with customer to resolve issues in database and applications. Competent to work on most phases of database administration.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with a variety of the field?s concept, practices, and procedures. Someone who can rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Needs to be able to perform a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a team lead or supervisor/manager.

 

Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in a related area and five plus years of experience in the field or in a related area.

 

Required Skills: UNIX, Shell/Perl scripting, PL/SQL, SQL Stored procedures, Database Servers - UD2/UDB, Cognos, Impromptu/Reportnet

 

Optional Skills:  Database & SQL Tuning and Mainframe Experience


To be considered for this position, candidate must have extensive technical expertise in UNIX (Sun Solaris/AIX), Shell scripts, and willing to participate in DB2 UDB database objects design and implementation. Analyst / Developer will be responsible for writing Unix scripts for batch processes, using Shell or Perl. Maintain datamart batch processes, which includes generating and implementing DDL's, writing SQL stored procedures, writing PL/SQL as per business needs and develop data migration scripts. Job duties may also include: development/enhancement of Cognos reports.
