Unix Security Consultant

The position is located in Northbrook, IL

 

The purpose of the department is to govern, consult, drive and assist the enterprise in identifying and protecting Allstate' critical systems and information assets. The scope of this job is Information Security Consulting, access control administration, and security product support and troubleshooting within the UNIX environment.  Versions supported include AIX, HP, Linux and SUN.

 

The individual will be responsible for

 

1. Supporting of Etrust Access Control.  This includes product setup, administration, and troubleshooting.

2. Consulting and leading in security design/operations for UNIX related infrastructure and application projects. 

3. Writing and supporting UNIX korn shell / Perl scripts that are used by the NCE and AIS personnel.

4. Creation and maintenance of UNIX security policies and procedures. 

5. Supporting processes related to UNIX Security, including user re-verification, monitoring and compliance, working with internal audit on issue resolution, and access control related troubleshooting.

 

The skills required are:

 

1. Advanced - Understanding of UNIX system administration.

2. Intermediate - Understanding and ability to verbalize Information Security related concepts.

3. Advanced - Good written and oral communications.

4. Intermediate - Knowledge of KSH and Perl scripting.

5. Beginner - Project management experience.

 

Experience Required:

5+ years experience working with a UNIX platform, 2+ years of Information Security related experience.

 

Computer Proficiency:

Education:

College Degree  - Preferred

Major preference: CISSP
