Unix System Support

You will be supporting the Internal Business Community and Labs providing support and consultation for all IS desktop and Lab needs. Receives, assesses, troubleshoots, and escalates support requests. Logs calls into Customer database and follows up with requestor. Duties may also include informational support such as application usage, over the phone support, and general procedures. Support will include LAN administration, hardware/software troubleshooting and server level integration. Individual will be a technical resource for the Customer Support Center. May also be called upon to work on special projects external to workload. Must have 1-2 years experience with UNIX Operating System!!!

Required Skills: Full understanding of UNIX, Linux, Solaris, AIX, etc. Deployment of new servers and clients. Troubleshooting skills-PC/Server both Hardware and Software. Thorough knowledge and wide application of PC/Server methodologies and concepts. Position will also include networking, enabling and disabling ports, configure VLAN's.

 

Desired Skills: Strong Unix experience a must! Windows Operating System (95, 2000, XP, Etc) a plus! 

Non-Tech Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent customer service abilities, detail-oriented and a positive and proactive work ethic.
