VB6 Software Developer

Tech USA, Inc . is currently hiring for Developers specializing in Visual Basic 6 for our client in the Harrisburg, PA metro area.

 

? Must have experience with Visual basic 6, SQL, Oracle, and Crystal Reports to be considered for this position.

? Excellent English communication skills are a must!

 

* This position is a 6 month contract to hire position, but may consider direct hire for a strong candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Function as a software engineer capable of performing all of the skills and tasks for a software engineer

? Evaluate, extract and/or formulate software requirements and technical documentation related to the software and the system/project 

? Create design documents based on project requirements

? Perform peer reviews of designs created by other Software Engineers

? Develop efficient, well documented source code from design documents

? Perform code reviews

? Unit and integration test proposed solution and verify against expected results

? Manage and store confirmed source code changes in configuration management system

? Communicate all information to the configuration manager on the project for proper communication to testers for informative and educational build notes

? Utilize available resources for unfamiliar issues

? Coordinate design code and test efforts with other team members

? Keep management informed on status of their issues in the form of a weekly work plan

? Work on the PTRs and/or Work Orders that are assigned by the Manager

? Attend and participate in project meetings

? Perform any other duties or requests described by your Manager

? Some travel will be required to customer sites or organizational training or gatherings

? Expect at times to work irregular and overtime hours to support systems or meet deadlines

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related CIS, MIS curriculum required, and five years related experience as a software engineer.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS/COMMUNICATION

Effective verbal and written communication of software development specifications and procedures in a client server environment is a must. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical software requirements and design documents written in English.  Must have the ability to write technical specifications and business correspondence in a technical environment.  Proven ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

 

 

 SKILLS:

****Prefer strong experience using Visual Basic 6 in a client server production environment.

? Proficient with the following operating systems: Windows (NT, 2000, 2003, XP).

? Proficient in the following programming languages: Visual Basic 6.0, SQL Server 2000, Crystal Reports 7.5 and higher, C Sharp, VB.Net, C, C++, Oracle.

? Capabilities with the following are a plus: Perl, Oracle Developer (Forms and Reports).
