Vice President, MH Construction Technology

The Vice President, Technology McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC) will be the relationship leader (RL) for McGraw-Hill Construction.  The RL will serve as the President of MHC’s technology partner and act as a member of the MHC sr. leadership team. The RL will work closely with the MHC senior leadership team to develop and execute on MHC business plans, ensure technology requirements are well understood and agreed to, that the business case behind a proposed technology project is sound. The RL will be responsible for defining and executing on projects driven by the MHC business plans, and will also be responsible for maintaining expected service levels for all MHC systems in operation.

 

The RL will act as MHC’s voice within Technology, and also be responsible for representing Technology in the MHC Sr. leadership team.

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:  In partnership with MHC leadership, develop business plans and technology plans. Ensure that the business case’s behind specific technology investments are sound and that the requirements behind the investments are understood and agreed to at the appropriate level of detail.  (20%) Once investment decisions are made, ensure that projects are defined and executed to deliver the expected outcome within budget and timeline agreed by working with the rest of the BIG IT organization. (20%) Ensure service level expectations are met for all MHC systems in operation. (10%) Represent Technology in the MHC senior leadership team, and as such, keep MHC leadership abreast of new technologies applicable to MHC. (5%) Ensure that investments in technology made by MHC are leverable across BIG and that, when applicable, MHC can leverage other technology investments made within McGraw-Hill  (5%) Be the senior escalation point for all technology matters related to MHC (5%) Build and maintain good productive relationships and working processes between the MHC business and BIG IT. (10%) Develop the Technology plan and budget for MHC each fiscal year, and manage to it. (5%) Develop and lead a team of primarily business analysts dedicated to MHC (20%)

 

Other Required Accountabilities:Keep MHC sr. leadership informed of all relevant technology matters Ensure that MHC strategy and plans are understood and reflected in the BIG IT Strategy and any applicable Corporate or segment level IT plans.

 

A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the IT field of which at least 10 should be in leadership roles of increasing responsibility and scope including budget management and team development. At least 5 years of experience with e-business development and business operations. Experience from data and content intensive environments with documented expertise in content management and publishing technology and service oriented architecture. Very strong relationship leadership and communication skills. Absolute integrity. Very strong results focus and leadership. Strong operational and planning skills. Strategic thinking and vision. Good negotiator and project management experience. Experience from the Construction market is a plus, but not a requirement. Experience from working with off-shored development partners in a global organization. Strong business acumen .
