Visual Basic Programmer / Analyst

We are currently looking for an experienced Microsoft Visual Basic programmer with SQL-Server development proficiencies to support and enhance proprietary applications and processes in a dynamic environment.  This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic, quick learner to apply a demonstrated Visual Basic skill set and creative initiative in a well-established firm that is relying on strong, dedicated people and technology for rapid growth.  It is ideal for an individual wishing to leverage existing skills and grow with the firm?s evolving technology commitment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

-  Maintain and enhance proprietary database applications and processes, including: trade processing; order management; account reconciliation; custom portfolio data repositories; management reporting.

-  Provide end-user support for internal users and Conifer clients.

-  Facilitate data integration with various data providers and consumers.

-  Participate in transition to new development and database platforms.

-  Participate in requirements analysis and process improvement.

 

Requirements and Desirable Skills:

 

-  A strong background developing and supporting Microsoft Visual Basic 6 applications and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database-based application development, including stored procedures.

-  ODBC, Microsoft SQL-Server Data Transformation Services, and reporting tools (e.g. Crystal Reports).

-  Excellent verbal communication skills.

-  Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

-  General troubleshooting skills.

 

Experience with the following would be a plus, but are not required:

-  .Net; SQL 2K5; Java; MySQL; VBA (Access and Excel)

-  The financial services industry.
