VoIP/Softswitch Engineer

Visitar is a new startup company headquartered in the Eastern US.  The company has launched an aggressive new strategy for the delivery of business applications as a service.  These applications are uniquely enabled with communications capabilities and mix the best of telephony solutions (including the latest VoIP technologies) with a focus on providing world-class technology driven business solutions to an underserved marketplace at market disruptive price points.  The first business application is a communication enabled Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application.

The Engineering team is seeking a highly talented and experienced VoIP/Softswitch Engineer.  Qualified candidates will have the following knowledge/experience:

?  BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree, MS or post-graduate degree a plus.

?  2+ years of hands-on experience with Asterisk

?  3+ years of experience in a 24x7 high-availability production service environment

?  Understanding of telephony technologies such as VoIP, SIP, RTP, IVRs, Softswitches and audio formats is essential

?  Understanding of VoIP network configuration, integration and management

o Experience with Asterisk IP PBX

o Broadsoft or Sylantro experience a MAJOR plus

o OpenSER SIP Express Router a plus

o Session Border Controllers (SBC) a plus

o SIP Proxy integration a plus

o VoiceXML, CCXML, Speech Recognition a MAJOR plus

o Demonstrable experience with web services integrations a MAJOR plus

o Ability to lead the project planning, design, and implementation of SIP/IAX2/VoIP architecture, and integration with external SIP networks internationally

?  Experience with the following technologies/skills also a plus

o Linux, Mac OS, and Windows operating systems

o Networking/distributed computing environment concepts

o MySQL database system

o PHP and Java production environments

o Ability to identify and resolve issues thoroughly.

o Strong interpersonal and communications skills, capable of:

? Defining and implementing operational processes

o Demonstrated ability to produce architecture and procedural documentation for internal and external audiences.

 

The chosen individual will have prior experience in startup environments and will have the following responsibilties:Design, configure, and manage SIP/IAX2/VoIP architecture. Coordinate integration with customer and partner SIP networks. Design and develop systems to monitor and troubleshoot VoIP architecture. Develop and implement security strategies for integrating SIP network with partner and customer networks. Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24x7 operation. Contribute to the selection and implementation of hardware, software, and other components to support 24x7 on-demand service environment. Research, troubleshoot, track issues, and document changes to the production platforms. Coordinate and spec the automation of recurring system tasks. Handle challenging system tasks with energy and enthusiasm.
